Our Story

About Grassgum Farm

Grassgum Farm is a 6.14 hectare regenerative agriculture destination in Buccarumbi, on the North Coast of NSW. The farm sits on the Nymboida and Boyd Rivers, surrounded by State Forest and National Park, with the historic gold mining village of Dalmorton just up the road.

We grow agave tequilana for spirit production, finger lime and Tahitian lime citrus, banksia cut flowers, and run cattle on regenerative pastures. The farm is powered by off-grid solar, battery, and bioenergy systems, with a full IoT sensor network monitoring soil, water, energy, and weather in real time. It's also a working demo farm for an AI agentic mesh network and control system — edge gateways, AI agents, digital twins and closed-loop irrigation running on the farm every day.

Visitors can stay in our eco-accommodation — the Ironbark Cave tiny home, Rattlesnake Ridge retro caravan, or Yuraygir Camp bush camp — take a white water tour on the Nymboida, fossick for gold and silver in the historic gold fields, or join hands-on workshops and courses in regenerative agriculture, permaculture, agtech, and off-grid energy.

Produce is sold direct from the farm through the FarmG8 marketplace — Beef Co-op livestock shares, heritage blue corn, citrus, chillies, agave spirit, bioethanol, carbon credits, and biodiversity credits.

Grassgum Farm is located on Old Glen Innes Rd, Buccarumbi, in the Clarence Valley, Nth Coast Region NSW.

Driving Directions from Grafton

Drive out of Grafton on the Old Gwydir Road

Head west out of Grafton on the Old Gwydir Road towards Buccarumbi.

Take the Buccarumbi signpost to the left

At the top of the first hill, take the Buccarumbi signpost turn-off to the left onto Old Glen Innes Rd.

Drive along Old Glen Innes Rd for 35km

Continue along Old Glen Innes Rd through the hills and bushland for approximately 35km until you reach the Buccarumbi bridge.

Cross the Buccarumbi bridge

Cross the Buccarumbi bridge over the river.

Look for the farm entry on the right

Once over the bridge, look for the Grassgum Farm entry on the right.

No phone service until you reach the farm

There is no mobile service along Old Glen Innes Rd until you arrive at Grassgum Farm. Download directions offline before you leave Grafton.

By Car

From Grafton: ~1 hour west via Old Gwydir Road and Old Glen Innes Rd through Buccarumbi.

From Glen Innes: ~1.5 hours east via Gwydir Highway, then Old Glen Innes Rd through Dalmorton.

From Coffs Harbour: ~2 hours via Pacific Hwy to Grafton, then west.

From Sydney: ~6.5 hours via Pacific Hwy to Grafton, then west.

By Air

Coffs Harbour Airport (CFS) — 2 hours drive from the farm. Daily flights from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

Ballina-Byron Gateway Airport (BNK) — 2.5 hours drive. Daily flights from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

Shuttle buses are available from the airports for the Nymboida white water rafting trips.

We can arrange pickup from Coffs Harbour or Ballina by prior arrangement.

The farm sits on the confluence of the Nymboida and Boyd Rivers — renowned for white water rafting, kayaking, fishing, and swimming holes.

State Forest & National Park

The farm backs directly onto Cunglebung State Forest — native eucalypt country bordering the new Great Koala National Park extension, which links through to Guy Fawkes River National Park and borders Nymboida National Park. This forest corridor is a stronghold for koalas, greater gliders, glossy black cockatoos, and brush-tailed rock wallabies. The ancient Gondwana rainforest of Gibraltar Range and Nymboi-Binderay National Parks is a scenic drive east.
